This course provides training for seafarers without previous seagoing service onboard tankers as part of the regular complement and meets the mandatory requirements for training of the ship’s crews – Reg. V/1 and A-V/ 1 (1-7) of the STCW '78/95, as amended. The course includes basic safety and pollution prevention precautions and procedures, layouts of different types of tankers, types of cargo, their hazards and their handling equipment. The training is conducted in a special tanker simulator. The course is structured in four training modules – Basic Tanker Familiarization and Oil, Chemical and Gas Tanker Familiarization, thus enabling trainees holding Certificate for Oil, Chemical or Gas Tanker Familiarization to extend their training to all tanker types. The course can be carried out in English on customer request.
Entry standards:The trainees should have completed an appropriate approved by the Bulgarian Maritime Administration fire-fighting and medical first-aid course.
Certification - After successful course completion Maritime Administration issues a certificate “Tanker Familiarization” under regulation V/1 and A-V/1 (1-7) of the STCW 78, as amended, proving that they can ensure the safety and cargo-handling operations on tankers.
