The Department is situated on board an anchored vessel "P. Beron" in the industrial area of the port of Varna. It is specially adjusted for training purposes and specialized in training seamen, stewards, motormen, boatswains, ableseamen, etc. The ship built in Sunderland, Britain, is really unique. Its Doxford slow-speed diesel engine is in good working order. The whole 3 hold is used as training complex with four study rooms, as rich library and saloon. The engine room is also modified to be used for training purposes. The bridge provides a good basis for training able seamen and boatswains. Onboard there is a well equipped with refrigeration chambers galley where courses for cooks led. On board the "P. Beron" the seafarers get a very good training as they are trained in real conditions - deck equipment, derricks, anchor capstan and windlass operate flawlessly.
The fire-fighting polyon is situated near to the training vessel.
Different types of life safe boats are situated there and are mainly used for the STCW courses, provided by Safety & Security Department. Next to the training vessel the beautiful barquentine "Kaliakra" is anchored. She is also used for familiarization training, seamenship, sailing skills development, etc.
